Juvederm
For the treatment of moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds such as nasolabial folds (those lines that extend from your nose to the corners of your mouth), FDA-approved Juvederm is a gel implant that includes hyaluronic acid, a natural complex sugar that bolsters skin elasticity, providing a smooth and supple appearance. It is biocompatible, supplementing the body's natural hyaluronic acid, which age has depleted. Dr. Salama injects transparent Juvederm gel with a syringe into the mid- to deep dermis of your face. The dermis is the subsurface skin layer that contains connective tissue, nerve endings, sweat and oil glands, and blood vessels.

Juvederm improves your appearance by lifting and adding volume to the wrinkles and folds in the treatment area. After six to nine months, the biocompatible compound is naturally absorbed into the body.

Hyaluronic acid fillers are a significant advancement in fillers. They are naturally modified forms of hyaluronic acid, and no allergy testing is required. They have an enormous safety record and are a non-animal product. The advantage of hyaluronic acids is that they naturally attract water molecules and hydrate the skin by holding in water, acting as a cushioning agent. This is what gives a smoother, healthier glow to the skin and creates a filling effect long after the actual filler is injected. These fillers are placed deeper into the skin and because they are thicker and last longer. There are reports of Juvederm® lasting up to one year. Juvederm and  require less volume to fill wrinkles and hard to treat skin folds. They are used for actual folds in the skin and deeper crevices, such as the nasolabial folds and marionette folds that extend downward from the corners of the mouth. They are also used for lip augmentation. Juvederm can be used simultaneously in a layering technique to treat both the fine lines and deeper wrinkles within the same location.

An advantage of Juvederm is its pliant gel consistency, which may provide a smoother, more natural-looking appearance than some of its more rigid predecessors. Another advantage is that Juvederm may last longer, maintaining the improved appearance for six to nine months. The benefits may last even longer if you have a follow-up treatment a few weeks after the first treatment. Side effects with Juvederm are rare, but may include redness, tenderness, or pain at the injection site. If these occur, they usually subside within three days. Rarely, discoloration may occur, but this is reversible. Firmness, swelling, bumps, and bruises are also rare side effects, which should subside within seven days. With Juvederm the injection process takes only about 15 minutes and results are immediate. Plus, there's minimal recovery or downtime. So you can step into your doctor's office for treatment and step right back into your life. Juvederm has a unique manufacturing process that provides a high concentration of cross-linked hyaluronic acid for long-lasting results. It also creates a smooth consistency gel that flows easily into the skin during the injection process and provides a smooth, natural look and feel.
