No More Sucking In That Sagging Stomach
We’ve all done it. For the perfect picture with friends or when someone attractive walks by, it’s almost instinctive to suck in your stomach. And it’s understandable – nobody wants people to see them looking out of shape. With a tummy tuck, you won’t need to suck in that tummy any longer. You’ll be able to get in great shape in no time at all!
The Tummy Tuck
Also known as an abdominoplasty, a tummy tuck is a procedure that can make your abdomen lean, firm, and toned. The surgery creates a flatter abdomen by removing excess fat and skin and tightening the muscles in the abdominal wall.
Who Is Eligible for a Tummy Tuck Procedure?
If you are a healthy man or woman, you may be eligible for a tummy tuck. Women who have had one or more pregnancies will find a tummy tuck to be quite beneficial. It can also be an option for those who used to be obese and still have excess stubborn fat deposits or loose skin on their stomach.
The Surgical Technique
When a patient comes in for a full tummy tuck procedure, general anesthesia is administered in order to induce a temporary unconscious state. This prevents the patient from feeling discomfort or pain during the operation.
Once the patient has been put under, the surgeon makes an incision in the abdomen above the pubic hairline. This incision extends from one hipbone to the other. The surgeon then shapes the muscles and skin as required and removes excess fatty tissue. The surgeon also makes a cut around the belly button to free it from the surrounding tissue.
If there is fat stored in the back and the abdomen, a circumferential abdominoplasty may be performed instead of the full abdominoplasty. This technique variation is used to remove excess fat and skin from the back and hip areas along with the front region, improving your figure threefold.
After completion of the surgery, the areas on the patient’s abdomen where the incisions were made are stitched up. Dressings are applied to the regions to keep them safe from germs and potential infection.
The Healing Process
You will need to wear a compression garment or elastic bandage in your abdominal area after your procedure. This garment is used to help the skin cling to the new contours of the region, and it also aids in controlling post-surgical bruising and swelling during the healing process.
You will need to follow the recommendations of your plastic surgeon regarding the healing process in order to avoid complications and keep recovery as short as possible.
Once you have healed from your tummy tuck procedure, a proper diet and exercise regimen should be maintained to keep your results looking impressive.
